What We Collect

HomeBeacon collects only what's needed to diagnose your home issues and connect you with solutions:

  • Phone number — encrypted with AES-256-GCM before storage. Used only to send and receive SMS messages.
  • Photos and issue descriptions — images and text you send describing home problems. Used to generate diagnoses. Raw SMS content is not persisted beyond the active session.
  • Home memory — structured data about your home systems and past issues, stored to improve future diagnoses. Never shared with third parties.
  • Location (optional) — your general area, used only to find nearby contractors when requested. Not stored or shared with advertisers.

What We Don't Collect

  • ✓No browsing history
  • ✓Raw SMS content is not persisted — it's analyzed and summarized into structured data

AI Analysis

Photos and descriptions you send are analyzed by Claude AI (Anthropic) to generate diagnoses. Images are processed securely and are not retained by Anthropic beyond the request. HomeBeacon does not sell or share your images with any third party.

Contractor Recommendations

When you request contractor referrals, HomeBeacon uses Google Places API to find nearby businesses. Your approximate location is sent to Google to perform this search. No personal identifiers are shared — only a location query. Review Google's Privacy Policy for details.

How We Use Your Data

Your data is used exclusively to provide the HomeBeacon service — analyzing home issues, delivering diagnoses, and improving recommendations over time. We never sell your data or share it with third parties for advertising.

Third-Party Services

  • Linq / Twilio — delivers SMS messages. Your phone number is shared only to route messages.
  • Anthropic (Claude) — processes your photos and text to generate diagnoses. Data is sent securely and not retained by Anthropic.
  • Google Places — used to find nearby contractors when requested. Only location queries are shared; no personal data.

Data Security

Phone numbers are encrypted using AES-256-GCM with unique initialization vectors per record, with a separate HMAC-SHA256 hash for lookups. Every access to decrypted personal data is audit-logged. Home memory is stored securely and accessible only to you.

Opting Out

Text STOP at any time to unsubscribe. Your data will be deactivated immediately. To request full data deletion, contact privacy@ipalmedia.com.
